Beijing day 5

Our plan for the fifth day of our trip had initially been to visit Beihai Park first thing in the morning. We had an early breakfast at the hotel and walked north up Xuanwumen and then dallied briefly through some Hutongs before heading east on ChangAn. Having studied the map at the start of the day we identified the large… (more…)

Beijing day 4

Our first real day in Beijing started out with the staff of the hotel restaurant refusing to let us into the breakfast area because we weren’t on their list so we headed down to the lobby and checked that our booking had been sorted and got one of their staff to set the restaurant staff straigh which took it’s time… (more…)

Hong Kong / Beijing day 4

The second was a travel day. We arose bright tailed and waggly eyed, all our stuff packed back into our cases and headed down to the hotel foyer and checked out. We loved Kowloon park with it’s little Aviary and it’s ponds and fountains and the viewing cone and we got a nice lunch from a bakery in… (more…)

Hong Kong day 2

I suspect that wight the proliferation of Eftpos and the HongKong Octopus Cars they are simply closer to being a cashless society… (more…)

Emily and I have embarked on our honeymoon. Three days in Hong Kong and a Week in Beijing. The idea being that Emily, having visited Hong Kong before, and I, having visited Beijing, could show each other the cities we’d previously been to in our lonesome. The flight over from Adelaide was three fifths of awesome though delayed by a… (more…)

Friday and Saturday

On Friday I was a boss. I woke up at a reasonable time and got started on my uni assignment and worked on it in chunks throughout the day, interspersing it with my usual messing around. By eight thirty I was done, assignement complete. To be honest I’m pretty pleased with myself. As a bonus the settlement for our block… (more…)
